Design Process

I started to work on the design process of my portfolio website and asked myself the following questions to build a better understanding of the project ahead.

Who's it for?
The portfolio website is for myself, my lecturers and anyone wishing to look at my work.

What does it work on?
The website will work on PC and Mac. Mobile is not considered at this point.

What is in it?
I will be using photos, videos, text and illustrations to help display my project information.

What things does it do?
My portfolio website will promote my portfolio of work and display information about myself.

How does it work?

Navigation

How does it look?

Wireframe
A simple sketch wireframe

By asking myself these questions and sketching a basic wireframe of my portfolio website I was able to build a picture of my website, think about how I wanted to present my content and how the user would navigate throughout.

I want my website to be minimalistic and clean but at the same time be full of information for my target audience. I want navigation to be unambiguous and consistent throughout.

All photos, illustrations and video are to be consistent in size to keep a fluid flow of content through the portfolio pages. All text would be of the same size except main headings.

With all my questions answered I could now move onto the next stage of considering in more detail how my website will look.
